Q: How can I get in contact with someone from the team?

A: Shoot us an email at our team email address, marylandsailing@gmail.com. We should be able to get back to you pretty quickly!

Q: When do you meet? And where?

A: We meet weekly during the school year on Tuesday nights from 8:15-9. These meetings take place in Jimenez 3120.

Q: Where do you practice and how do you get there?

A: We practice in Annapolis, launching out of Annapolis Sailing School (ASS) where our FJs are kept year-round. During weekly meetings, our Fleet Captain will organize a carpool where sailors who have a vehicle on campus drive those without one. Often certain cars will even stay after and enjoy downtown Annapolis for dinner and shopping, depending on how much interest there is. Directions to ASS can be found at the bottom of this page.

Q: How often do you practice?

A: We try to run practices about 3 days a week, but if you can’t make all three it’s not a big deal. We’d like to see all active members coming to at least one practice a week if they are interested in competing, but we are flexible and understand the time constraints that college students have.

Q: I don’t know much about sailing, can I learn?

A: Yes. We welcome sailors of all abilities, and try to run at least one or two “learn to sail” clinics throughout the semester.

Q: How big of a time commitment will this be?

A: However much you are willing to make it. One of the greatest things about our team is that it can be as big or little a part of your life as you want. Some members choose to travel every weekend and compete, while others prefer to attend meetings and a few learn to sails. We ask that all members try to attend at least three team events a semester outside of meetings (practices, regattas, fundraisers, etc), but are understanding if serious conflicts arise.
